The Oklahoma State Department of Education, Special Education division, offers many autism services and supports to educators, school professionals and families.
The SDE Special Education Resources For Parents section of the SDE website offers links to several publications and agency websites. The section also includes a link to the Special Education Parent Handbook, full of information about your child's rights in special education.
The Oklahoma Special Education Policies/Procedures, 2007 edition, is being revised in 2009. Click here for the online version. ACT also has many printed copies of this free publication available in our Resource Library.
SDE Special Education conducts IDEA compliance and monitoring of Oklahoma school districts to ensure that all children with disabilities are receiving a free and appropriate public education. If you have questions about your child's FAPE, contact SDE.

Autism Registry Training

Presented in partnership with the OU Health Sciences Center, offering training for Sooner Start providers, local education agencies, parents and caregivers of individuals with disabilities. For a complete listing of opportunities, click here.
Project PEAK
Offers training opportunities including a new "Train the Trainer" module for school districts. For more information, click here.
PBIS
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) is a framework for schools to implement positive behavior support. Positive behavior support is used effectively in educational programming for students with autism. SDE is currently providing training in PBIS to school districts across the state.
